Procedure for the Neck and Jaw LineBelieve it or not, the neck area is often the first place where aging appears. The delicate skin and anatomical structure of the neck make it a perfect place for lines, wrinkles, stubborn fat and loose skin to develop. Neck lift surgery at Atlanta Aesthetics removes the fat and skin that gives your neck an aged appearance. After the surgery, you have a younger, toned neck and jaw line.
Atlanta Neck Lift Cost and Financing OptionsAfter your consultation, we provide you with a cost of your neck lift surgery. You can pay for the surgery by cash, personal check, credit card and CareCredit® financing.
Benefits of a Neck LiftNeck lift surgery by double board-certified Atlanta plastic surgeon Dr. Christopher Killingsworth is recommended for patients with:
- Loose flaps of skin that extend from under the chin to the top or middle of the neck
- Sagging jowls
- Muscle banding in the neck area
- Fatty bulges in the neck area
Evaluation for Neck Lift SurgeryDr. Christopher Killingsworth will determine if you are a good candidate for neck lift surgery during your consultation appointment. The general criteria for neck lift surgery are:
- Between 40 and 80 years old
- Have adequate skin elasticity in the neck area
- Loose skin under the jaw line
- Double or triple chin
- Excess skin and fat on the neck
- Skin that is damaged by sun exposure
The Neck Lift ProcedureYour neck lift surgery lasts two to three hours, and general anesthesia is used for the procedure. In some cases, Dr. Killingsworth can improve the neck area with liposuction alone. If your neck lift procedure requires removing excess skin, Dr. Killingsworth will place the incisions in locations that allow him to access the soft tissue while ensuring that scars are as inconspicuous as possible, such as behind the ears and under the chin. They may suture the neck muscles before he pulls the skin tight over the area and trims the excess skin.
For the first 72 hours after the surgery, you will have pain, swelling, bruising and tenderness in your neck. Dr. Killingsworth may recommend that you not turn your neck for the first few days to keep the soft tissues in place. They may prescribe pain medication and antibiotics. You will need to take two weeks off from work, and avoid exercise and strenuous activities for four to six weeks. You may have swelling for one to two months, at which time you will see the full results of the neck lift procedure.
