Lip augmentation is a method of enhancing lip volume and shape. Lip augmentation techniques can be used to address age-related volume loss or to simply enhance the lips for a more glamorous appearance. Lip implants are one option for lip augmentation, but these require surgery and often produce results that don’t look fully natural. Lip fillers are a minimally invasive treatment that can provide long-lasting and natural-looking volume. Plus, patients have multiple treatment options to ensure they achieve the results they desire.
Wrinkles, lines and loose skin are not like other cosmetic skin concerns. They cannot be easily concealed, and they can be incredibly tough to get rid of without the use of surgery. Fortunately, at Atlanta Aesthetics, we offer a minimally invasive skin tightening solution called Profound. With this treatment, patients can eliminate wrinkles to achieve a smoother, younger appearance. Here’s what you need to know about this revolutionary treatment.
What is Profound Skin Tightening?Profound is a non-surgical skin tightening solution that can be used to address wrinkles and sagging skin around the mouth, jowls, and cheeks. This facelift alternative combines microneedling and radiofrequency energy to tighten the skin while stimulating the production of collagen and elastin. During treatment, small needles are inserted into the skin, where they release radiofrequency energy to cause the skin to contract and produce collagen. The procedure takes between 45 and 90 minutes, after which patients are able to drive themselves home and return to their daily activities.
What Can I Expect After Profound Skin Tightening? The Profound treatment is becoming a popular alternative to traditional facelift procedures because it involves no surgery, meaning no lengthy recovery period. Patients can expect some mild redness and bruising, but these effects typically fade within a week of treatment. Patients will begin to notice results as collagen and elastin increase in the body and start enhancing the skin. Most patients start to notice results about two weeks after treatments, enjoying continued improvements in skin laxity for up to a year. After this point, patients can expect their skin to maintain these improvements for a few years. However, the skin will continue to undergo gradual changes due to the natural aging process, and can also be impacted by your diet and other lifestyle habits.
Am I A Good Candidate for Profound Skin Tightening? If you have developed wrinkles or loose skin in the lower or mid face, you may be a good candidate for Profound. Many patients are choosing Profound to rejuvenate the face because it involves significantly less downtime than a facelift, and is also more affordable. If you schedule a consultation at Atlanta Aesthetics, we can review your cosmetic goals to develop a customized Profound treatment plan. We offer Profound skin tightening to residents of Forsyth County, Atlanta and the surrounding areas of Georgia. Contact us today to get started.
- Redness and swelling immediately after injection for 24-36 hours. This is usually minimal, and most people have no problems interacting socially immediately after injection
- Some mild bruising (which depends on patient, the product and the injector) which subsides over 4-5 days. Many patients experience no bruising at all.
- The final cosmetic result is achieved once swelling subsides after 5-7 days.
- Sleeping with head slightly elevated helps with swelling after injection
- Gentle icing immediately after injection helps with swelling and bruising
CoolSculptingCoolSculpting has a minimal recovery time and most patients can return to their normal daily routine directly after each session. You can expect none or some of the following symptoms immediately after the procedure. These symptoms may persist for up to several weeks. Most patients have very mild symptoms but, as with any medical procedure, each patient experiences it uniquely. Symptoms always subside over time and have NO long lasting complications. The treated area may be red for up to a few hours after the applicator is removed. This is an expected but temporary effect. Bruising, swelling and tenderness can occur in the treated area. This typically resolves within a week or two. Nausea, tingling, stinging and cramping in the treatment area are possible on treatment day. You may feel a temporary dulling of sensation or itching sensitivity in the treated area. Numbness at the site is common, resolving over 1-3 weeks.
MicrodermabrasionTwo of the most gratifying benefits of microdermabrasion are rapid recovery and near-immediate results. In the time it would take to grab a quick lunch, patients can dramatically rejuvenate their skin, reduce the appearance of mild acne scars, and achieve a healthy, vibrant glow. After the first microdermabrasion treatment, the complexion will have a pink or red glow, which typically fades after a day. Redness may last slightly longer after more aggressive dermabrasion treatments. The skin may feel as though it were sun- or wind-burned, but this sensation should subside fairly quickly. During microdermabrasion recovery, patients generally experience immediate improvements, but optimal results will not be visible until the patient has completed all recommended treatments. A typical course of treatment ranges from five to twelve sessions spaced a week or two apart.
Americans of a certain age and mindset are increasingly choosing dermal fillers over surgery to smooth the cracks and crevices of time. Fillers can turn back the clock on your face by replacing volume lost from aging. In their never-ending quest to maintain a youthful appearance, patients use fillers to erase a decade or more of age’s cruelties in a relatively inexpensive and painless hour. Unlike cosmetic surgery, fillers are subtle and non-invasive. Those on the fence should know that fillers come with a double-edged benefit. If you don’t like the results, you can just wait as they generally dissipate after six to eight months. But if you do like the results, that temporary nature is a liability. Make sure you are comfortable enough with the doctor or practitioner to share insecurities about your most defining physical characteristic, your face. The practitioner must have not only technical skills and product knowledge, but also the ability to manage your expectations, and to read and maintain your level of comfort during the procedure. The best practitioners engage you in the process, soliciting your input and approval.
Who has downtime? These days it seems are busier than ever. Careers, kids, marriage, and more can dominate your life. If you are like me, the luxury of a week or two of “downtime” really isn’t an option. Many of my patients ask for non-invasive treatments or minimally invasive treatments for that reason. Luckily, the field of plastic surgery is embracing new technologies that can fulfill these scenarios. For example, there are many noninvasive treatments for fat reduction around these days. Although they vary in mechanism of action, the point is to disrupt fat cells. Vanquish is a new device used for noninvasive fat reduction. The technology involves radiofrequency energy which heats fat cells to a point where they go through programmed cell death (i.e. they give up and don’t come back). Your skin feels warm during the treatments, but there is no discomfort. You need 4-6 treatments spaced about a week apart. The treatments are 30 minutes long and you can return to normal activity directly afterward. In the studies performed by BTL (the makers of Vanquish), the average patient lost a few inches from their waistline. A few inches would mean fitting into a smaller dress or pant size (which is kind of a big deal). That being said, the results are not as dramatic as liposuction, but keep in mind this treatment is noninvasive and requires no downtime. So if your busy lifestyle, fear of invasive procedures or pocketbook can’t accommodate traditional body contouring with liposuction, this may be a good alternative for you.
