Breast enhancement procedures are the most commonly performed cosmetic surgeries. Thousands of patients turn to breast surgery to achieve their cosmetic goals when they are unable to attain them through diet and exercise. Still, diet and exercise are an important part of a healthy lifestyle that many patients are eager to return to after their breast surgery procedure. Maintaining healthy lifestyle habits is essential to maintaining your results, but it is important to understand that there will be some limitations on your activities following a breast lift surgery.
Now that you have decided to have breast augmentation, you get to choose the breast implants that will give you the desired look. Most women are familiar with the rounded silicone implants that were available when breast augmentation first grew in popularity, but today’s breast implants offer many more options.
#1 StyleThe first choice you have is between silicone and saline implants. Both styles have shells that are made of silicone, so the difference is in the liquid inside the implant. Some considerations when choosing between silicone and saline implants are:
- Silicone implants have a similar feel to natural breasts.
- Although rare, both styles may leak, and silicone carries a greater risk because saline is absorbed easily by the body.
- The FDA requires that women be at least 21 years old to have silicone implants.
- Saline implants may require smaller incisions because the shells are filled once the implant is placed in the breast area.
- Silicone breast implants are typically a better choice for women who are very petite, as well as those with small natural breasts.
- If a saline implant leaks, it will collapse.
- Silicone implants that leak may cause symptoms, such as discomfort and abnormalities in the shape of the breast.
- Saline implants are ideal for women with asymmetrical breasts.
#2 ShapeBreast implants are available in round and teardrop shapes. Round implants give consistent fullness around the perimeter of the breast, whereas teardrop implants have more volume towards the bottom of the implant. Teardrop implants are more anatomically proportionate to natural breast shape. Teardrop implants are more prone to rotating inside the tissue pocket compared to round implants. Additionally, teardrop implants are always textured, and round implants can be smooth or textured.
#3 TextureSome breast implants have a textured surface to help the implant stay in place. The design may make your breasts feel firmer and less natural than a smooth implant. Studies have shown that women who have textured implants are at reduced risk for capsular contracture that occurs when scar tissue develops around the implant. Textured implants are also less likely to ripple compared to smooth implants.
#4 SizeWhen you choose the size of your implants, you have two considerations. You can find a size that is in proportionate with your body style, or you can go a little larger. This is a matter of personal preference, but you should consider the effects of having larger breasts. First, you will be carrying more weight on your torso. Not only will you need larger bras, but the weight can strain your back, neck and shoulders. Second, some women consider their professional environment and lifestyle before choosing breast implants that will make them significantly larger.

If you want to boost your confidence this holiday season, look into these treatment
Lip AugmentationIf you think your lips are too thin, lip augmentation can give your lips a fuller, more voluminous shape. Lip augmentation also reduces signs of aging because a thin smile can add years to your face.
CoolSculpting®If you’re searching for a way to bust stubborn body fat, but are scared of surgical procedures like liposuction, CoolSculpting®, or cryolipolysis, is a perfect solution for you. CoolSculpting® is a non-surgical, non-invasive treatment that uses a handheld machine to essentially freeze fat cells, which are then eliminated naturally by the body.
Brow LiftYour brow and forehead area show some of the earliest signs of aging on the face. Lines in this area can give the appearance of angry, sadness or confusion even when you’re perfectly happy. During a brow lift, the muscles of the forehead are subtly elevated to get rid of excess skin and fat in the area, making your face tighter, less wrinkly and more youthful.
Tummy TuckA tummy tuck, also known as an abdominoplasty, is ideal for you if you’re very close to your ideal weight, but are having trouble losing a few extra pounds around your stomach. This procedure is especially popular for mothers. During a tummy tuck, extra skin is removed and your core muscles are tightening to give a toned, flat belly. Are you ready to restore your confidence? Contact Dr. Killingsworth at Atlanta Aesthetics, serving the Atlanta and Forsyth County areas. Dr. Killingsworth is a double board-certified plastic surgeon specializing in cosmetic surgery of the face, breast and body. Plastic surgery differs from other types of surgery because it is not often necessary for one’s health. Essentially, the purpose of plastic surgery is to improve a patient’s appearance, which can be done in hundreds of different ways. Plastic surgery is available for every part of the body, including face, eyelids, nose, lips, neck, breasts, stomach, hips, legs and knees. While the most obvious benefit of plastic surgery is that it improves physical appearance, there are much more benefits of plastic surgery than what meets the eye.
Boosted Self-ConfidenceWhen you look good, you feel good. People who are happy with their appearance exude self-confidence, which makes others perceive them as more attractive, friendlier, and easier to approach. While plastic surgery may change just one part of your body, the self-confidence you gain from the procedure can change your life.
Better Mental HealthFeeling ashamed of how you look can be detrimental to mental health. Plastic surgery to improve a problem area can help eliminate social anxieties and other mental hardships caused by the embarrassment of physical appearance. Feeling comfortable in your own skin allows you to enjoy everyday activities much more.
Improved Physical HealthWhile plastic surgery is often cosmetic, it is sometimes performed for health reasons as well. There are plenty of plastic surgery procedures that can improve physical health as well as appearance. For example, breast reduction not only improves body contour but also relieves pain in the back and neck due to heavy breasts. Rhinoplasty improves the shape of the nose, but can also improve breathing in some cases.
Motivation to Stay in ShapeSome weight loss procedures, like liposuction or tummy tuck, require patients to maintain a healthy lifestyle in order to maintain the results of the procedure. Undergoing an expensive procedure can be fantastic motivation to eat well and keep up a regular gym routine. Are you ready to restore your confidence? Aging, gravity, pregnancy, breastfeeding, genetics, and plenty of other factors can change the size, shape and appearance of a woman’s breasts over the years. These factors can cause breasts to sag, droop, or lose their size and shape. Because the change in appearance can cause a lack of confidence and low self-esteem, many women turn to procedures such as breast lifts and breast augmentation to restore the size and shape of their breasts. However, some women who are afraid to go under the knife shy away from these procedures. If you’re one of the women with a surgery phobia: have no fear! There are non-surgical breast lift options designed just for you.
What kind of procedures are available? One of the most popular non-surgical breast lift options is available to women who have undergone the liposuction procedure. Fat cells that have been removed from other areas of the body during liposuction are injected into the breasts to give the breasts a fuller, rounder appearance.
What results should I expect? While the most drastic breast lift results are achieved during surgical procedures, noticeable results can also be achieved with non-surgical breast lift options. Non-surgical procedures often yield the most natural looking results. Women can expect a change in size of shape of a few centimeters, which can be the perfect amount to restore breasts to a more youthful appearance. Non-surgical breast lifts can make a difference in one to three cup sizes, but women looking for a more drastic result should turn to other methods of breast lift. Are you ready to restore your confidence? Contact Dr. Killingsworth at Atlanta Aesthetics, serving the Atlanta and Forsyth County areas. Are you unhappy with the shape, size, or appearance of your breasts? Breasts come in all sorts of different shapes and sizes, and can drastically change in the course of a lifetime due to factors such as genetics, pregnancy, breastfeeding and weight fluctuation. Because there are so many different types of breast surgery options, including breast augmentation, revision breast augmentation, breast implant removal, breast lift, breast reconstruction, and breast reduction, it can difficult to choose which procedure best suits your body and your desires. One of the most common complaints we hear is of sagging breasts due to time and gravity. Women suffering from sagging breasts often find difficulty choosing between a breast reduction or a breast lift. Here’s how to determine which procedure is right for you.
Breast ReductionBreast reductions are best for women whose breasts sag due to their size. Women with overly large breasts can suffer back pain due to the weight of their breasts. They can also experience discomfort while playing sports or engaging in other physical activity due to the size of their breasts and may have a difficult time fitting into clothes. By reducing breast size, many women feel more confident, happier, and healthier. Breast reduction can improve body proportions, alleviate shoulder and neck pain, and give a slimmer appearance.
Breast LiftBreast lifts are best for women whose breasts are not necessarily too large, but whose breasts are sagging or drooping. During a breast lift, excess skin is removed and the nipple area is moved upward, so breasts get a fuller, uplifted appearance. Breasts lifts tighten the area around the breast and pull the breasts closer to the chest to restore a youthful look. Both breast reductions and breast lifts are great procedures that leave patients feeling happier and more confident. What works best for you may be different than what works for other women, so the best way to determine the procedure you need is to consult your doctor. Are you ready to restore your confidence? Contact Dr. Killingsworth at Atlanta Aesthetics, serving the Atlanta and Forsyth County areas. Do you find yourself wishing for larger or fuller breasts? Many women feel as though their figure would be more proportional and attractive if only their breasts were larger. Breast augmentation is a great option for women wishing to enhance the natural size and shape of their breasts. Many women choose to have breast augmentation surgery after childbirth and breastfeeding.
What’s my first step? Before your breast augmentation procedure, schedule a consultation appointment for evaluation and to discuss different options. Depending on your body type, age, and desired appearance, your doctor will help you decide between saline implants and silicone implants. There is no “right choice,” and your breast augmentation solution will probably be different from someone else’s. During this appointment, your doctor will develop a personalized treatment plan fit for your body and discuss the details of the procedure with you.
Which implants are right for me?Saline implants are silicone shells that are filled with sterile salt water. The shell is filled with saline after it is inserted in your body, so a smaller incision is made for saline implants. Saline implants are typically more firm than silicone implants, and some women say that their saline implants feel similar to water balloons. Saline implants are available to women ages 18 and over. Silicone implants are filled with a gel-like substance. Because the implants are filled before being inserted into the body, a larger incision is needed for silicone implants. The silicone gel flows within the shell, closely mimicking the look and feel of natural breasts. Silicone implants are softer than saline implants. Silicone implants are available to women ages 22 and over. Are you ready to restore your confidence? Contact Dr. Killingsworth at Atlanta Aesthetics, serving the Atlanta and Forsyth County areas. Breast augmentation surgery is an exhilarating experience, as it provides you with new, voluptuous curves to admire and flaunt. It’s no surprise that it remains one of the most popular cosmetic procedures at Atlanta Aesthetics year after year.
Is there a Perfect Age for Breast Surgery? You may imagine that this procedure is meant for women in their prime, but in reality, you are never too old to have a breast augmentation. In fact, aging can cause changes in the shape and size of breasts, which means matured women will likely find themselves in need of some re-shaping and sizing at some point in their lives.
Schedule an EvaluationNo matter your age, if you’ve been considering how a breast augmentation could change your life, we recommend that you come in for a consultation. Speaking with our team of experts in a one-on-one confidential consultation will give you a better idea of the results that you could have, and how breast surgery can be tailored to your needs. During your consultation we will also discuss your physical and mental health, which is an important factor when considering if it is the right time for a woman to pursue breast augmentation. In order to give the best recommendations, our team will examine the size and shape of your breasts, and the quality of your skin. If it is determined that you are a good candidate for the procedure, our team will share with you more detail about the surgery, recovery, and costs of the procedure. Due to technological advancement, breast implants now come in a large variety of shapes, sizes, and compositions to help achieve the most natural looking results for every patient. Our patients choose from saline or silicone implants. Some women want a very natural looking implant, while others go for a very round and “pushed up” appearance. The good news? We can do it all!
Silicone vs. Saline ImplantsSilicone implants are often regarded as feeling more natural than their saline counterparts, but many women are comforted by the fact that the saline implants are non-toxic and can be safely absorbed by the body in the event of a rupture. Saline implants also require a smaller incision, because they are filled after having been placed. Silicone implants have a more natural feel and are less likely to show rippling.
Placement of the ImplantAside from the implant itself, you will also need to consider (with consultation from the doctor) if the implant is placed over or under the chest muscle. Sub-glandular placement (above the muscle) produces a rounder and fuller look, while sub-muscular placement (beneath the chest wall) produces a more natural shape. Sub-muscular placement tends to be more common, but your surgeon will take your unique anatomy into account when making their recommendation, and the choice is ultimately yours.
Incision PlacementA third factor to consider in your breast augmentation procedure is the incision placement. Incisions can either be made in the armpit, in the crease under the breast or around the areola. All three are often inconspicuous and once scarring has healed can hardly be noticed. If you’ve decided to pursue breast augmentation, you may be wondering about your implant options. You likely have an idea of how you want your breasts to look and feel, and choosing the right implant size, shape, and fill will help you to achieve your desired results. You will need a consultation to determine the correct size and shape of implants, but here is some information on the types of fill: saline and silicone.
Breast Implant OptionsBoth saline and silicone implants are approved as safe to use by the FDA, and each has its own advantages and drawbacks to consider. About Saline Implants Saline breast implants have a silicone outer shell that is filled with a sterile salt-water solution. The volume of the saline in the shell determines the firmness of the implant. Many women are happy to learn that saline implants require a smaller incision, as they are filled after being placed. It is easy to detect if a saline implant ruptures, as the breast will change shape. The saline solution is non-toxic and easily absorbed by the body. However some women have found they do not feel like a natural breast, and there is a greater risk of rippling due to the firmer nature of the implant. About Silicone Implants Silicone filled implants use a silicone shell that is filled with a thick silicone gel. Silicone gels are popular because they feel more like natural breasts, and are unlikely to ripple. They do require a slightly larger incision, and rupture is best detected via an MRI because a rupture does not cause the silicone gel to leak out and change the breast shape; it is cohesive like a gummy bear and does not flow freely. Are you looking to change the appearance of your breasts, but are unsure what procedure is best for you? A consultation with a professional is ultimately the best way to decide which procedure will give you the results you’re seeking, but you can never have too much information. Our team has outlined the differences between a breast lift and a breast augmentation.
About Breast AugmentationsBreast augmentations add size, volume, and fullness to the breasts through the use of either saline or silicone implants. Our breast augmentation patients come to us for a variety of reasons:
- They are looking to increase the size of their naturally smaller busts.
- They are looking to fix deflation that occurred during pregnancy and/or breastfeeding.
- They are looking to restore volume after significant weight loss.
- They desire to reconstruct their breasts after injury or illness.
- They are looking to balance breasts that are lopsided or otherwise uneven.
About Breast LiftsBreast lifts focus more on the positioning of your breasts than their size and fullness. The sagging and drooping of breasts is a natural process that can be caused by pregnancy, weight loss, exercise and/or aging. Gravity is working against the breasts, but a breast lift is a way to fight back. Breast lifts help to reposition the breasts higher on the chest, and oftentimes appear to make the breasts fuller simply because of the new contour and shape.
A Combination of ProceduresSometimes it is best to combine a breast lift and a breast augmentation for the most optimal results. The professionals at Atlanta Aesthetics understand that although sagging and loss of breast size may be natural, it can still cause a lack of confidence. Together with our team, we can determine which breast procedure is the best fit for you based on your desired results. For more information about cosmetic breast surgery, contact us at Atlanta Aesthetics to schedule a free consultation. We proudly serve women in Atlanta, and throughout Forsythe County, GA.
Plastic surgery has been rising in popularity over the last few decades, with breast augmentation being one of the most popular procedures year after year. An increase in popularity means an increase in misunderstandings. These misunderstandings can sometimes deter women from getting a procedure that could bring them newfound confidence and sense of self. Let’s get our facts straight once and for all…
#1: Your boobs will look fake. FALSE!There has been much technological advancement since the early days of implants. Implants in 2018 do not look “plastic.” There is now a large range of implant sizes, shapes, and compositions to choose from. This allows surgeons to personalize the procedure and find natural-looking implants for each patient’s body type.
#2: The implants have to be replaced often. FALSE!Many people believe that it isn’t safe to have implants over extended periods of time, but many women can safely wear their implants for 10 or more years. As long as the implants are not leaking, and there is no swelling or tenderness of the breast, there is no reason to have them removed.
#3: Every Plastic Surgeon Can Perform Breast Augmentation Surgery. FALSE!Although breast surgery is among the most common cosmetic procedures, breast augmentation surgery should be performed by an experienced and board certified surgeon. At Atlanta Aesthetics, Dr. Killingsworth is a double board certified plastic surgeon. For more information about breast augmentations, contact us at Atlanta Aesthetics to schedule a free consultation. We proudly serve women in Atlanta, and throughout Forsythe County, GA.
Pregnancy takes a toll on a woman’s body. Pregnancy and childbirth are beautiful parts of life, but mothers shouldn’t have to sacrifice their own beauty to grow their family. Plastic surgery after childbirth to restore your body, boost confidence and revive your sex life is becoming more and more popular. A mommy makeover at Atlanta Aesthetics includes multiple procedures that can be performed during one session to save downtime necessary for recovery.
AbdominoplastyAfter childbirth, a mother’s skin around the lower abdomen can get loose and stretched out. An abdominoplasty, or tummy tuck, removes excess skin and fat while tightening the muscles underneath, leaving the mother with a flat, toned belly.
LiposuctionIt’s common for women to put on extra weight during pregnancy, and it can be hard to find time to hit the gym with a newborn. Liposuction is an extremely effective method of removing excess fat after childbirth, especially from the hips, waist, stomach, thighs, back, legs, arms, neck, chin, ankles, and love handles.
Breast AugmentationBreastfeeding is a powerful bond between a mother and her newborn. However, breastfeeding can leave breasts sagging and deflated. Breast augmentation can restore the size of breasts with silicone or saline implants, leaving the mother will natural, fuller looking breasts. Is your appearance suffering from the effects of childbirth and pregnancy? Dr. Killingsworth at Atlanta Aesthetics can help. Dr. Killingsworth is a double board-certified plastic surgeon specializing in cosmetic surgery of the face, breast, and body. At Atlanta Aesthetics, Dr. Killingsworth and his team are dedicated to delivering an exceptional level of patient care to patients in Atlanta, Forsyth County, and surrounding areas of Georgia. Contact us to learn more about the possibilities of a mommy makeover.
There is nothing greater in this world than becoming a mother. The feeling of having created someone that is a literal piece of you is powerful. Unfortunately, with childbirth comes potentially unwanted changes to the body. A mommy makeover can help restore your mind and body back to their pre-baby days, giving you the confidence and beauty you once enjoyed. But are mommy makeovers just for mothers? It’s Just the Name… Being a good candidate for a Mommy Makeover gives you back the confidence you feel when your body is toned and shapely. Dr. Killingsworth or Dr. Catignani first determines if the timing of your surgery is right. They may recommend that you wait until after you have your last planned pregnancy or after your child is done breastfeeding. By recommending surgery at a later date, they extend the longevity of the results. A mommy makeover is for anyone who wants multiple surgeries to target multiple parts of the body. Usually, a mommy makeover consists of three procedures: breast augmentation, tummy tuck, and liposuction. These three procedures target the breasts, tummy, and thigh areas which are the areas most effected by a pregnancy. After giving birth, you can be left with some unflattering features, such as retained fat deposits, loose and sagging skin and droopy breasts. It is inevitable that your body will change as your abdominal muscles are stretched during pregnancy and your breasts fluctuate while breastfeeding. But Is It Lasting? A mommy makeover provides the best long-term results for women who do not wish to have any more children. This procedure can also be for men who are looking for a change in their overall body size. This procedure tends to last a few decades if you stay healthy and eat right. This is not a magical procedure but if you do your part, the effects can last a lifetime. Contact Atlanta Aesthetics at 678-453-8055 to schedule your consultation or to learn more about the Mommy Makeover procedure.
Every year summer comes along, and along with it comes the need for a “summer-ready body”. Summer can sneak up on you though, and you may feel rushed or feel like you have run out of time to get the summertime appearance you were hoping for. But with proper planning and a little extra help, you can get there. What options are there for cosmetic procedures? As far as summer ready bodies go, some of the most common areas of concern are the chest, stomach area, and the face. With the chest, some options to consider are a breast augmentation, a breast lift, or a breast reduction. For the stomach, there are tummy tucks and mini tummy tucks. For the face, there are a variety of options such as facelifts, neck lifts, or lip augmentations. Between these options and general body contouring with procedures like liposuction and butt or thigh lifts, you can gain the body you aspire to have and with it the confidence to take on the summer. When should these procedures take place? Timing is key when it comes to getting the body you want for summer. Springtime, from around April to June, is the prime time to get these procedures done. During spring, it’s still early enough in the year to wear clothing to conceal your work in progress, but it’s not so early that you have to deal with the big calorie holidays like Christmas and New Years. You will have time to recuperate and prepare for the summer season ahead. Don’t settle for feeling uncomfortable in your body. With a healthy diet and ample exercise paired with the cosmetic procedures of your choosing, you can achieve the image you want. For more information on the procedures available to get your body ready for summer or to schedule a consultation, contact Atlanta Aesthetics in Atlanta and Forsyth County, GA at (678) 453-8055.
Are you thinking about getting a breast lift or a breast augmentation procedure performed? Do you want to love the way you look with more voluptuous breasts, thanks to natural-looking implants that enhance your size? Or would you like to see your breasts appear perkier and maybe a bit more youthful looking in their projection and their shape? You may even be contemplating having both done, a breast lift and a breast augmentation. But is that even possible, and if so, what is involved in having a combination of both procedures? Either procedure can be absolutely fundamental to restoring and rebooting your sense of self-confidence and self-esteem, provided of course that the procedure is performed by a board-certified plastic surgeon. An overall re-positioning of the breast tissue, making the skin more taut, and effectively elevating the plane of the breasts is considered a breast lift. The insertion of breast implants is the other principal technique for enhancing the shape and appearance of your breasts, and it is referred to as breast augmentation. While a breast lift procedure will generally include the tightening of your skin and re-positioning of the breasts, an augmentation is all about adding volume to increase the overall size of your breasts. Depending on your unique needs, you may actually benefit from a combination of both techniques to achieve your optimal shape and appearance. However, if both a lift and augmentation are desired, depending on your specific situation, it may require two operations. One easy and straightforward way to determine whether you need a breast lift or not is by simply looking at your breasts in the mirror and evaluating to see if your nipples “hang” more than an inch below the breast fold. If the answer is “yes”, then some sort of breast lift may be desirable to help you get the look you desire. A consultation with double board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Christopher Killingsworth of Atlanta Aesthetics, is highly recommended. A thorough examination with Dr. Killingsworth will focus on the position of the areolas in relation to your breast folds, also known as your breast ptosis. Dr. Killingsworth will also evaluate the degree of loose skin and your skin elasticity issues along the lower poles of your breasts. To lift or just to augment is one of the big questions that Dr. Killingsworth helps his patients to answer every day. During his examination process, Dr. Killingsworth can tell you definitively whether you need a breast lift or not. On the other hand, with the passage of time due to weight loss, nursing or pregnancy, volume can be lost from your breasts, causing you to want breast augmentation. You could also just have a longstanding wish to increase the size of your breasts for a more shapely and voluptuous profile with enhanced cleavage. In either case, this outpatient procedure can augment the shape and appearance of your breasts or supplement volume that has been diminished, producing amazing looking results. Dr. Killingsworth will work with you to find the ideal sized implant, one that gives you a natural, full-chested look that you can feel proud to see in the mirror. An implant, however, will provide you with a certain amount of natural lift, so it’s entirely possible to get a breast augmentation performed and not decide until later that you are in need of a surgical breast lift. If you feel like you may benefit from both a lift and an augmentation at the same time, Dr. Killingsworth is an expert at combining the two procedures for optimal results. It’s your body and your quality of life that gets enhanced, so take the time now to schedule your consultation with Atlanta Aesthetics and you’ll soon be well on your way to a more voluptuous, sexy and curvaceous you!
If you have made the decision to have a breast augmentation procedure, there’s still one more decision: silicone or saline? Silicone and saline are the two options for breast implants, and each has their own benefits and drawbacks. The main difference between saline and silicone is the fill of the implant. Saline implants are inserted into the chest empty and filled with sterile salt water. Silicone implants are pre-filled with silicone gel (thick fluid that feels like fat). Another main difference is the course of action if the implant(s) rupture. If a saline implant ruptures, the implant will deflate, and you will notice a change in its size and shape. If a silicone implant ruptures, you many never notice – but both implants should be replaced if they rupture. Silicone and saline implants look and feel slightly different. Many women believe silicone implants are more natural looking and feeling. Saline implants are filled with water and have a more rounded, balloon look, particularly in women with thin frames. Saline implants also have a higher chance of rippling or wrinkling on the skin. The placement and size of the scar are different with saline and silicone implants as well. Silicone implants can only be inserted through incisions in the breast fold or along the armpit. Saline implants can also be implanted through incisions around the areola or the belly button. Per the FDA, saline implants are an option for women over 18 years of age, but silicone implants are only available for women over 22 years of age. Silicone implants can also cost up to $1,000 more than saline. Both silicone and saline implants are safe and FDA approved. The choice between the two is highly personal, and there is no right choice. Schedule a consultation with Dr. Killingsworth to discuss your options and help decide which is best for you.
There are a lot of information and opinions out there about breast augmentation procedures. Though it is a highly personal decision, there are some basic “do’s” and “don’ts” regarding the procedure: Do your research. Know the benefits and associated risks, the basic difference between silicone and saline implants, and the recovery timetable. Do plan for recovery. You will need at least a few days off work and someone to help you take care of children. Trying to jump right back into your daily activities will prolong recovery and may damage the implants. This includes avoiding exercise until your surgeon gives you the okay. Do have realistic expectations about your surgery. A breast augmentation procedure will give you fuller breasts, but it will not change your entire body. If you are unhappy with more than just your breasts, consider a mommy makeover or tummy tuck/liposuction in conjunction with breast augmentation. Don’t base your decision on bra size. Though it’s easy to think of breast size based on bra size, a C cup on a petite woman with a thin frame looks much different than a C cup on a tall woman with broad shoulders. You should base your decision on breast size depending on your personal frame. Don’t forget to think about your lifestyle. If you’re someone who exercises regularly or plays sports, large breasts may get in the way and make those activities more difficult. Don’t forget about aging. As your body ages, your breasts will remain the same size. Breasts that are too large can also have a negative impact on your back and the rest of your body, which will only get worse as you get older. Do schedule a consultation. Before you make any major decisions, Dr. Killingsworth can talk to you about silicone vs. saline, the correct size for your frame, and what to expect after surgery. You can even try on different breast implant sizes to see what size and shape you like best.
