Radiesse® in Atlanta, GA
Also known as Radiance, Radiesse® is a dermal filler that is used by Dr. Cristen Catignani and Dr. Christopher Killingsworth, a double board-certified Atlanta plastic surgeon, to reduce the signs of aging by adding volume and fullness to the skin. Chosen by the residents of Forsyth County, Atlanta, Cumming and surrounding areas in Georgia as the Best of Forsyth Reader’s Choice Awards 2015 Best Cosmetic Surgeon, Dr. Killingsworth recommends Radiesse® treatments for treating lines and wrinkles around the nose and mouth.
Injections to Reduce Lines Around the Nose and Mouth
Dr. Killingsworth and Dr. Catignani recommend Radiesse® for lines around the nose and mouth. The location of these signs of aging makes you look like you are always frowning, even when you smile. Lines and wrinkles such as these are most effectively treated by enhancing skin volume. Radiesse® contains microscopic spheres that are suspended in a gel. The spheres are made of a substance that normally occurs in the human body — carbon hydroxylapatite, so allergic reaction to the treatments is very rare. The microspheres facilitate increased skin volume by attracting and binding with collagen, a substance that keeps young skin smooth. The collagen, in turn, works to form new skin tissue that replaces the skin that is damaged by the aging process.

The Radiesse® Procedure
Dr. Killingsworth or Dr. Catignani clean the skin with an alcohol pad and applies a topical anesthesia. They then mark specific injection sites to guide him during the treatment. Using a very fine needle, They inject a specific amount of Radiesse® into the dermis and subcutis layers of the skin where the lines and wrinkles originate. You see some initial results of the treatment, but full results take up to seven days and last up to two years in most patients. You may notice small drops of blood at the injection sites and experience tenderness in the same areas. These symptoms may last 24 to 72 hours.
